Cathy Wai Hau

Ms. Cathy Hau is an Executive Director of Real Estate Group of CITIC Capital Holdings since 2011. Her youthful disposition belies her expertise in Asia’s Commercial and Retail property sector over the last 20 years. Her evaluation of commercial leasing potential is well-regarded for strategic investments in the development and management of retail assets throughout China. Ms Hau’s property experience was honed with her 10-year stint at Wharf Holdings, one of Asia’s largest conglomerates. Her leadership of Times Square on Shanghai’s famed Huai Hai Road, was lauded for many firsts in ideas as well as the successful implementation of multi-use property leasing, marketing and promotional strategies for modern lifestyle shopping mall, exclusive residential and Grade A Office management. 

In 2009, Ms. Hau was awarded “the Order of the Italian Star of Solidarity” by the President of Italy for her outstanding contribution in promoting Italian fashion, arts and business in China. Well acknowledged for her work in the spheres of Arts, Music, Fashion and Charity, resulting in a Rotarian of the Year award, Ms. Hau helped found and served as board member for several organisations since 2005, such as Rotary Club of Shanghai, the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra Friends Club, and the Woman’s Round Table of Shanghai Charity Foundation.

Ms Hau began in marketing and communications where she was Group Director for world’s largest Golf Resort – Missions Hills Group and respectively where she was first to use celebrities as spokespersons in the Internet environment. 

Ms Hau is well-placed in relations with major fashion brands, government bodies, traditional and social media, real estate and retail asset owners, merchandising and distribution, along with sports venues and organisers.

She has been the Panelist of J.P Morgan China Conference 2012, MIPIM Asia 2015, Speaker of Annual Retail Asia Congress 2011, Retail China Summit 2010, and Annual China Retailing 2007. She was also guest lecturer of MBA programs of University of California (Irvine), Beijing Tsing Hua University and Shanghai Jiao Tong University.

A holder Bachelor of Science degree in Marine Mechanical Engineering from Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Ms Hau also holds an MBA from Southeastern University in the United States.
