This week on FEW Members' Corner, we would like to introduce you to Komal Mirchandani, Founder of Sanskrit, a bewitching world of Asian fashion with master couturiers from India.
Hello Komal, What inspired you to start your company?
I launched in 2002 as I had a strong hunch that Indian fashion and design was going to explode and would be loved by international fashion pages. In those days, it was impossible to find Indo-fusion daily wear so I decided to work with designers from India to create the kind of items that I would like to wear myself.
So far, what's the most challenging part of your journey?
In the beginning, it was difficult to understand the requirements of the HK market. 90% of my clientele are either local HK people or expatriates and I had to work out how to best cater to their sensibilities. Only a small percentage of my clients are ethnic Indians or from the sub-continent.
